Dean and Professor of Chemistry, College of Sciences
Since 2019, Jeffrey Roberts has served as Dean of the College of Sciences and Professor of Chemistry at San Diego State University. Prior to his appointments as SDSU, Dr. Roberts was on the faculty of the University of Minnesota and Purdue University, two of the nation’s most respected public universities. For eleven of those years, he held significant administrative portfolios, including four as department head at Minnesota and seven as college dean at Purdue. Dr. Roberts’ research interests are in surface and aerosol chemistry, most recently in the surface modification of aerosol nanoparticles for materials applications.
A native Californian, Dr. Roberts attended Santa Rosa Junior College and received a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley in 1982. He received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Harvard University in 1988, and was a post-doctoral research associate in Chemical Engineering at Stanford University from 1988-1990.
