STEM Voice is an online video competition open to all United States studentsin grades 5-12. Each contestant created a one-minute video designed to answerone of two questions - Why is STEM important to YOU? Or who is your STEM heroand why?
The Coalition of State Bioscience Institutes (CSBI), a group of non-profits organized to advance STEM Education, announced the winners of the STEM Voice video competition incollaboration with the Biocom Institute (San Diego CA), MdBio Foundation (Rockville, MD,) and EDUCATE Center of the iBIOInstitute (Chicago, IL). Two regional winners from each of three regions in the United States went on to compete in the high school and middle school divisions.
We congratulate national competition winners, DemetriSedita and Sarah Bieber. Mr. Sedita, homeschooled in Tampa, FL won the National Middle School Competition. Ms. Bieber from Berne Union Local Schools in Sugar Grove, OH won National High School Competitions. Mr. Sedita and Ms. Bieber’s videos wereselected from over 100 submissions nationwide.
Regional Middle Schoolwinners for Central and West respectively are: Alexis Lemire, Oakwood MiddleSchool, North Canton, OH and Brianna Jones, Solana Santa Fe Elementary School,Rancho Santa Fe, CA. Regional High School winners for East and West respectively are: Linda Xiong, Dorman High, Roebuck, SC, and Ivy Gong, TorreyPines High School, San Diego, CA.
