This roundtable provides a unique opportunity for BIOCOM members to have a casual discussion with Chief Deputy Whip, Congressman Peter Roskam (R-IL).

Peter Roskam is the Congressman for the Sixth District of Illinois and the Chief Deputy Whip, the number four Republican in the House of Representatives.

Currently in his third term, Roskam is a member of the influential House Ways and Means Committee and is the co-chair of the Republican Israel caucus.

This past election cycle, Roskam was the Vice-Chair of America Speaking Out, the organization that created the GOP's Pledge to America.

Named a "Rising Star" by local and national papers, Roskam has become a leader on both political and policy issues. He is a leading proponent of fundamental tax reform and of passing the three currently stalled free trade agreements, traveling to Colombia, Panama, and Korea to promote each.
Roskam also leads a bipartisan working group dedicated to making the long-stalled US-South Korea Free Trade Agreement a reality.

Before his election to Congress in 2006, Roskam was a member of the Illinois Senate, serving in leadership as the Republican Whip and Floor Leader. He served in the Illinois House before that from 1993 to 2000.
His work earned him awards from businesses, health care and pro-family organizations and in 2005, Americans for Tax Reform named him a "Hero of the Taxpayer."

Peter earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois and his law degree from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. Following law school, Peter pursued his interest in public policy and moved to our nation's capitol, working for his predecessor from the Sixth District, Congressman Henry Hyde.

During his years on Capitol Hill, he met his wife Elizabeth. They now live in Wheaton where they are raising their four children.
